The pheasant logo has been a distinctive symbol of the Gibson Wine Company for many years. Bob Gibson, the late founder and main proprietor of the company, was widely recognized for his passion for ornithology. He possessed the United States' most extensive private collection of rare and exotic birds, reflecting his deep interest in avian species. This fascination is commemorated in the company's logo, representing a blend of tradition and personal legacy.

During his travels, Mr. Gibson discovered a rare portfolio featuring original artwork by a notable early naturalist and artist. After thorough verification by eminent ornithologists, the drawings were praised for their exceptional quality and detail. Recognizing their value, Mr. Gibson collaborated with H.S. Crocker Company to bring Jean Fabreau, a highly skilled Belgian engraver, to America. Fabreau meticulously hand-engraved the plates, which were then used by H.S. Crocker Company to produce the final, exquisite product.
